For centuries, native tribes called this Colorado high country
their home, wandering the wooded ravines and spruce-lined meadows in search of
elk, bison and deer that migrated through what we know today as the Vail
Valley. In the early 1800’s the first trappers, miners and ranchers found their
way to this harsh yet beautiful land to stake their claim. The legacy of these
pioneer families is preserved in the thousands of acres of open land and the
many neighborhoods and roads bearing their names.
Cordillera encompasses over 7,000 acres on both the north and south sides of
I-70. With neighborhoods located on the valley floor as well as high above on
the surrounding ridges, Cordillera is 20 minutes from the world-class ski
resort, Vail, Colorado. 125 miles east of Cordillera is Denver International
Airport and 25 miles west is the Eagle County Regional Airport.
